America's Birthday

This weekend was fantastic! I love the Fourth of July. So many fun things going on! Luckily we made it to ALMOST everything that we wanted to go to.
Friday we went fishing at the fish farm with some of Aaron's family. It was lots of fun. I am cursed when it comes to catching fish. I don't believe I will ever be able to catch one. I don't know what it is. I think it's a big sign that you can't catch fish when you don't even catch one at the fish farm. I guess it took everyone else a while to catch theirs as well. Each of them caught one fish. They were big fish too! I did however get two bites. I've never even gotten that far before. Both of those fish got away though. It was still a lot of fun. We didn't want to leave, but we had to make it to the fireworks!
We went to see the fireworks with Becca and Lewis. Did I mention that I LOVE fireworks? Cause I totally do! The fireworks out here are always the best! They last for a long time and the finale was amazing! I've never heard so many fireworks go off at the same time in my life. We had a pretty good spot to watch them too. I only wish it had been a little warmer. Brr...
Saturday was the cruise in. Normally, I spend the Fourth of July weekend up at Bear Lake with my family. Last year, the Fourth was the first time my family went to Bear Lake for the season. It was hard to think about going alone, but I wanted to go. And by alone, I mean without Aaron. I needed his help dealing with it then. He wasn't too happy to have to miss the cruise in, cause he loves it. I promised him we would go this year. So as much as I wanted to go to Bear Lake again this year, I sucked it up and went to the cruise in with my husby.
For those of you who don't know, the cruise in is a showcase of really nice classic and custom cars. The last day of it they do a parade which is just driving up and down the street for everyone to watch. We didn't end up going to the walk around part. We decided it wasn't worth paying that much for it. But, the parade was so fun! As usual, we sat by our second family, the Anderson's. They are tons of fun. So entertaining! We love them.
The last time we ended up going to the cruise in was 2008. That was the day that Aaron told me he loves me, well actually he made me tell him that I love him first, but that's a different story. It was great to go to the parade again and remember that wonderful day. :)
Sunday, after church we went up the Bear Lake for the day. Yay! We hung out on the beach with my family and buried my nephew in the sand. Fun! Also on Sunday Carter took his first steps! We weren't there to see it happen the first time but we saw it happen several times after. So precious! We had to entice him across the room with food. He definitely has a lot of the Isakson gluttony in him. :)
Sunday night we lit off the illegal Fireworks my brothers bought on the way and some we've had laying around for awhile. The cops up there don't care about fireworks since it's so wet. We had so much fun with it...even though we almost blew ourselves up....twice. The first time Darin lit a firework before putting it in the launching tube. It was one just like the professional ones. Well, he couldn't get it in the tube in time. He dropped it on the ground and tried to put it out with his foot. Well we thought it was out for a second...until it exploded once. It wasn't too bad so we started walking away and a second later it exploded again, this time it was LOUD! Holy cow! The sparks flew all around us. Scared the living day lights out of me! The second time, for some reason the firework only got a few feet off the ground when it exploded. I just remember being surrounded in red sparks. I was understandably a little nervous lighting the rest of the fireworks. It's a good laugh now, but could have ended a lot worse than it did.
Monday, We both had work off, yay! We got to be in a parade for Aaron's work. We did it last year too. It's a lot of fun. The kids get sooooo excited just for some candy. They are so dang cute. The best part is, Aaron got paid for this. Three hours of work that was just fun time. I hope we get to do this again next year!
As you can tell, we had a great time! I love the summer time. So many fun things to do. Just don't want it to end. Ever! :)

This post is too long.

That's all

More fireworks please!

June

I haven't had much to blog about this month. Life has been very busy, but only with boring things. I can't believe It is already the last day of June! The summer needs to stop going by so fast. Here are a few of the things that happened this month:

June 4th was the birthday of the cutest little boy ever! My Nephew Carter turned one. It was super fun to watch him open his presents and attack his cake. He is the most precious thing. So funny, and always makes the perfect faces for pictures. Love him!!! Here are some pictures of that fun:

June 5th was one year since Aaron proposed to me. We didn't do anything to celebrate really, but it was a very happy day. Fun to look back at the last year and how things have changed and gotten so much better. I can't believe it, but I love him even more than when I said yes.

Father's Day was relaxing. Saturday we went to Bear Lake and celebrated with my family. We had a very nice steak dinner, as usual. Sunday we hung out with Aaron's family. We all just relaxed and had a good time. I got Aaron a shirt as a father's day present. No, I'm not announcing anything. I just wanted to get him something since he will be a daddy to our kids one day.... one far away day. Mostly, he just needs some more shirts.

We went to my Nephew Max's last baseball game. He's a freaking superstar! He hit a home run that almost hit the cars in the parking lot. He can smack that ball so far. It's crazy that he's already 7 years old! It always surprises me when he's with kids his age how much taller than the rest of them he is. My family isn't known for our height, so he's going to tower over Carter when they are grown up. :)

We have gone fishing quite a bit this summer. Still no luck. Maybe one day I'll catch my first fish. Last Friday we went night fishing with some guys Aaron works with. We got there just before 10PM and stayed till some time after midnight. Only one guy caught something and it was just a baby catfish.

We have had a lot of fun this summer so far. I love it. I just want it to slow down so I can enjoy it for longer.

Trying to leave on a jet plane

Our adventure, trying to get home from Virgina
So all of us had airplane issues at some point on the trip. My dad's plane got delayed 7 hours in Houston on the way to Norfolk, got to his hotel around 5am. Sucky! My brother Eric's plane got cancelled and couldn't get re booked till the next night so he had to miss the graduation.
Ours was quite the adventure.
We get on the plane to go from Norfolk to Atlanta, it had already been delayed a half hour and our layover was just under an hour. We were worried about missing our connecting flight, especially cause the Atlanta airport is huge! While sitting on the plane in Norfolk waiting to take off, the pilot says there is a ground stop in Atlanta because of bad weather, we couldn't even take off till it was lifted. half hour later the ground stop was lifted and we left for Atlanta. We missed our connecting flight by a good 20 minutes. to get re booked you just scan your ticket and a machine gives you your new ticket. We were now Scheduled to go to San Diego then to Salt Lake make it to SLC at 1 AM. We were only going to have about an hour layover again. Take a shuttle to our gate. Wait around, then hear that the flight to San Diego got delayed and we weren't going to make our connecting flight. Time to get re booked again. This time we talked to an actual person who said there was a "better" direct flight we could get on that would get us there at around 9 PM instead. Great! So we get on a shuttle again to go wait at that gate. After waiting for a couple hours, the flight got delayed an hour, immediately followed by being cancelled. Time to wait in line to be re booked again, we are now struggling to be patient. We get to the front and a guy comes to the side and asks the lady at the desk if he can go first. She says he has to ask us. We didn't want to let him go. I ask "are you trying to get re booked on the Salt Lake flight?" "Yes" "Well then I don't think so, we don't want to loose a spot" He proceeds to tell us how has a deadly disease in his jaw that is worse than flesh eating. He needed to get to the U of U hospital for an emergency surgery. He had been booked on that flight because he was told it was the most sure one not to be cancelled or delayed. He paid $1,200 for a first class ticket so he would be sure to have a seat. Bad luck. A closer look at him and we notice that is jaw is about twice the size it should have been and he had little tubes coming out of his neck. "Wow okay, by all means go ahead"
We all ended up on a flight that they had just made just for those of us who were having trouble getting to Utah. Another shuttle ride later, and we are at a very colorfully decorated gate. Strange. An hour of waiting, and our gate gets changed. Hop back on the shuttle and we are at a gate right next to our first one. What a day. We boarded that flight an hour after the scheduled time. Glad to just finally be on a plane. Once we are all settled in our seats, the pilot comes on the speakers and says we are just waiting for the catering to show up and then we can leave. Heaven forbid we leave with out our peanuts! I was just planning on sleeping the whole way home, not snacking. It took and hour and a half for the snacks to get there. Finally we take off. It was actually really pretty with all the lights outside. We slept on and off most of the way. We make it to Salt Lake City at 2:30 AM, home 4:30. We had to be back in Logan at 7 AM for a food co-op. We only got two hours of sleep, picked up our produce, went back home and slept till 1 PM. Longest day ever. I've never been so happy to get to lay down in my own bed. I never want to see the Atlanta airport again. That's for sure. 12 hours of waiting there were more than enough. Oi

That's all.

Nats VS. Mets!---------------Buzz Aldrin's uniform at a Smithsonian

Well, that pretty much sums up our vacation. I Finally figured why it wouldn't let me edit or organize the pictures so I could get this blog posted already. So, a little late, but here you go.
We had a lot of fun! It was so great to see my brother graduate! Such an accomplishment. He's such a smarty. I wish I had some of that in me.
While in Virginia we went to Williamsburg, the beach, fishing, an awesome old dinner and movie theater, and the aquarium. Fishing was my favorite! I didn't catch any thing, but it was cool to see what everyone else caught. Aaron caught a shark, a guy next to us caught a sting ray, my dad caught a pig fish that snorts. We forgot sunscreen, so we all got burned, but I got fried. I've never been burned so bad in my life. I don't know what it is with me and getting horribly burned with giant blisters lately, but I seem to be really, very good at it. I'm still peeling and pink some places. I'm so glad it doesn't hurt or itch any more though.
The aquarium was awesome too. We got to pet horse shoe crabs, some other kind of crab, starfish, and friggin sting rays! I love petting the sting ray's cause they are killer animals! They killed one of the greatest outdoors guys ever, and we can just stick our hands in the tank and pet them? Crazy!
In DC we did the typical touristy stuff. Took the Metro into town, saw the monuments, a few of the Smithsonian's, went to a National's game (they won!), and the National Archives, which was so cool to see! At the Nats game, apparently something historic happened involving a triple play and a home run by the same person... or something like that... I don't know. I'm not a huge baseball fan. It's hasn't happened since like 1950 something though. But it's really cool that I was there to sort of witness that :) I loved the game though. It was great! DC is always so much fun!

Great vacation! Time to start planning the next one! :)

The end!

Cinco de Mayo! Ole!

Today is the fifth of May.
Honestly,
I don't know why it's celebrated.
But it is. So I decided to join in on the celebrating this year. So HERE is how I chose to celebrate:

That's attractive.
It's a chicken nacho cheese chalupa from Taco Bell, which is almost Mexican food. It also happens to be my second favorite fast food joint. Mmmmm I also had some cinnamon twists which I love cause they are cheap, tasty, and almost no calories. Three of my favorite adjectives. Okay, so only two of those are adjectives, but you get what I mean.
The festivities of the day will continue later on tonight when we go to El Sol for dinner. El Sol is Aaron's Favorite Mexican eatery. Will be a good night.

This last part is only for the girls. LOOK AWAY BOYS! LOOK AWAY.
Okay so here's a good deal for you. If you girls go to Walmart, be sure to check out the feminine products isle. If you buy specially marked Always ultra thin pads or Tampax pearl tampons (which are probably the best tampons on the market, I must say) you get a free movie ticket with purchase. If you get the paper, in the Sunday paper there was a coupon for both in the P&G add. So get something you already need, at a discounted price, with a side of free movie tickets. Why not? It doesn't expire till November. So something I learned the hard way with this, don't go online to redeem the ticket till you are ready to use it. Once redeemed you must use it within 30 days.

Well, that's all for now.
Loves.
End.

Blog spam

I sure do wish I would stop getting spam comments from some random Asian people all the time! It's quite annoying. Any one else get these? If you see them in my comments, don't click on their links.

P.S. Happy May! Summer is soooo close! Then it will finally be Bear Lake season! I'm soo excited! :)

That's all!
I love most of you! ;)

Just thought you should know...

Most days....

We are nerds. But that's okay, because we love nerds.
This is the aftermath of Fundip. Remember that? We sure do!
Maybe we should grow up... but probably not. Life would be soo boring as a mature person.

That is all.

Spaghetti pie

Oh hello there!
Remember that time I burned my hand? Yeah, that time. I know I keep bring it up. But this will probably be the last time... hopefully.
Any way... when I burned my hand I was making Spaghetti Pie, a recipe my mom would make and we all loved.
So I made Spaghetti pie for the first time since the burn this last week. I was proud that I made it without burning myself this time. I'm pretty sure Aaron was surprised I got through it too. Of course I had to document such a feat.
Also I don't know if ya'll have heard of Spaghetti Pie before so I thought I should educate you in what it is. It's basically just what it sounds like. Pictures describe it better than I could though so here ya go:

Before cooking

After! Yumm-o. It has eggs and Parmesan cheese
in the noodle "crust" to hold it together. Sooo tasty.

Playing a little game of catch up.

I guess I should finally put the pictures from Easter on here. First I'll tell you what we did. Saturday we were going to dye eggs together but after conference, shopping, eating out with Aaron's family, and making frog eye salad to take for dinner the next day, we ran out of time. So the plan was to do it Sunday. Sunday morning turned out to be a lot busier than planned. After making breakfast, finishing the frog eye salad, and the morning session of conference, it was time to get on the road. We decided to go to my dad's house for Easter since my family still makes a pretty big deal out of Easter. It was a fun time. We ate dinner, then had an Easter egg hunt. I am the youngest of my three brothers, then there are my step siblings, which there are five of. There are two that are younger than me, one by just a few months, and one that is 18. So we are all adults, Maybe a little to old for Easter egg hunts.... but we all had a good time. All of us, even my cute little grandma Lucy were running around the house like children getting our eggs. There were really only two kids in on the hunt, and only one of them was old enough to walk or really even care about it. So it was a house full of adults enjoying being kids again. We got 5 eggs of candy and 1 with different amounts of money in it from 2 to 5 dollars. Aaron won big with a fiver and I lost with only two. It was a good time. I really loved seeing my nephews. Carter is going up so fast and is adorable. Too bad he still cries every time I hold him. Max is way too old and needs to stop growing up. He's a little smarty pants.
We were having a good time and didn't end up getting home till it was too late to dye the eggs. So we didn't get our eggs dyed till the day after Easter. haha but it was still fun! I am still a kid at heart, so I love doing things like that. Aaron calls me "youthful" which is a nice way of telling me I'm immature. :)
Here are pictures of our egg dying:

Umm how cute is he? Aw! And look, No beard!

These are our eggs. Aaron got creative and drew all over his.
They look pretty nifty too. Mine are the plain boring ones :)

That is all.
